Kent Road Public School has an active P&C Association. The P&C Association is an incorporated organisation with a constitution prescribed by the Department of Education. It consists of parents, teachers and interested citizens from the community who come together with the following objectives:
to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation
to assist in providing facilities and equipment for the school and in promoting the recreation and welfare of the students at the school.
Through the P&C Association parents may be involved in all aspects of the school, working in partnership with the teaching staff and the Principal to achieve the best possible learning environment for our children. Membership of the P&C Association is open to all parents at the annual cost of $0.50.
Being a member entitles parents to vote on issues raised at P&C meetings, and to hold positions on P&C sub-committees. All P&C positions fall vacant at the AGM which is held in November of each year.
The effectiveness of the P&C in achieving its objectives is greatly increased by as many members as possible actively participating in the various meetings and functions of the P&C.
The P&C Association meets on the Tuesday of the 3rd and 8th weeks of each school term at 7.30 pm, in the teachers’ staff room.
The funds raised by the various P&C operations - along with the P&C Voluntary Contribution made by parents at the beginning of the year - are vital in enabling the P&C to fund a number of significant projects.
Some recent projects that have had partial or complete P&C funding include:
Provision of 4 interactive white boards
Additional computers for the computer room
Air-conditioning in classrooms
Provision of transport for all students attending the 2 week intensive swim school
Grounds maintenance
The Association has established a number of sub-committees to carry out specific functions on its behalf.
In 2009, P&C sub-committees include:
Uniform Shop - stocks Kent Road Public School uniforms and accessories at reasonable prices. This is a significant source of income for the P&C so we appreciate your support.
Grounds/Maintenance Committee - assists in the maintenance of the school grounds by activities such as working bees etc.
Fundraising Committee - organises events to raise funds to provide extra equipment and facilities for the school. They run activities such as Mother’s/Father’s Day stalls, athletics BBQs etc.
Canteen Committee - Provides a volunteer staffed canteen, two days a week, based on the Healthy Canteen guidelines. The school canteen provides a variety of nutritious and attractively presented foods and drinks at reasonable prices. It is open to both Infants and Primary at recess and lunch.
All sub-committees and activities require the time and commitment of volunteers. The contribution of the volunteers is vital to the successful operation of our canteen, fundraising and uniform shop. All profits are returned to the P&C to be spent on facilities and additions that benefit our school.
We thank all our volunteers for their generosity to give their time so willingly.
